What a week!!

Things around the office have been picking up. This past week there was voting on legislation, which made for an extra busy work week! It has been so interesting to see how congress works, and over the past few weeks I have been able to experience all of the hustle and bustle around the hill first hand. In our office we receive hundreds of phone calls each day from supporters and activists wishing to express their opinions on political matters, some of which can be rather interesting.

Late last week disaster struck again. I don't know if you all remember, but in Australia my faithful laptop caught a terrible virus which put it out of commission for several days and forced me to spend over $200 to repair. Well, last week it "caught another virus" and totally shut down. I had been stressing over the issue all week, and out of the blue my wonderful parents spoiled me with such a great surprise, a new laptop!!!! I am going to be the proud owner of a macbook, and I am so excited! Thanks Mom and Dad! I'll be sure to update the blog more frequently ;-)

This week is looking to be a busy week not only in the office but around the house! On Wednesday it is Kristina's Birthday, and we are planning a great dinner for her in the city! (Any suggestions??). This will also be my first full week of classes, which I am anxious to get started on. Also, at the end of this week John is coming to visit which I am so excited about because I miss him a lot!! I can't wait to take him to some of the great museums, restaurants, and parks around here. Don't worry John, I'll go back to the Spy Museum with you..

I am really excited about this week and I will keep y'all updated =-)

Washington DC!!!!

Hey everyone! Well, I am in Washington, DC , the nation’s capitol and it is such a wonderful city!!! I arrived last week and you would not believe how cold it is here, good thing I brought my scarf! The house that I am living in is great and I could not have asked for a better roommate. There are a total of twelve of us living here, and needless to say it’s a little hectic. The house is located only blocks away from capital hill, which makes it a pleasant, but cool, 10-minute walk to work in the mornings. I am working in congressman Trey Gowdy’s office this semester, and I am eager and excited to learn and help in whatever way that I can. I have made great use of my time thus far by taking advantage of the many great museums that this city has to offer. Washington, so far, has been truly amazing and I cannot wait to start work again tomorrow!
